aktivsolutions can support you in your Rapid Prototyping needs. We have the ability to deliver high quality Stereolithography (SLA) or Selective Laser Sintered (SLS) models direct from your CAD model or alternatively via Reverse Engineering, a physical model/part. By incorporating these technologies into your prototype process you will have the ability to view the aesthetic appearance of your model, check its form and fit, and where required its functional capabilities in a matter of days.
Stereolithography (SLA)
SLA is the oldest method of producing rapid prototyped components, and is still one of the most widely used methods. This is due to its high accuracy, speed of production, and flexibility of applications making it ideal for rapidly visualising your design, its form, fit, and its ability to function prior to committing to a manufacturing process. SLA models can be produced in a wide range of materials that mimic the characteristics of ABS, and Polypropylene, offering you prototype parts which include capabilities such as flexibility, high temperature resistance, elasticity, and durability. SLA models can also be used as patterns to produce Silicon Moulds, a wide range of materials can then be cast allowing you to have production intent parts. Alternatively, wax models can be cast for the production of metal components via the investment casting process.
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)
The primary benefit of SLS is the durability and long term stability of the components produced. The SLS process has arguably the widest range of materials available, including metals, to mimic your production intent component. SLS models offer high accuracy and have the ability to bend, snap, hinged, drilled, bolted together and can be exposed to high heat and chemical conditions. As SLS materials are extremely durable it is possible to rapidly manufacture components as a cheaper and quicker alternative to producing tooling.
SLS offers the highest level of functionality combined with speed of any prototype process.
By utilising these technologies you speed up the design process and have the ability to assess and view alternative designs in a matter of days allowing you to refine your designs further to avoid costly modifications in production.
