Reverse Engineering is the process of taking a physical part, and through data capture techniques produce a 3 dimensional CAD Model. By employing this technology, parts that have little or no data and/or require modification can quickly and precisely be reproduced (cloned) or modified (morphed).
Some of the most common examples of where reverse engineering is used are:
• Where models/parts exist with no CAD data or have been manually modified away from the original CAD data and need to be reproduced.
• Components have been damaged and there is no original data source.
• Suppliers are unable or reluctant to provide parts/moulds.
